Promise
I love flower buds, they hold such promise and loan credence to the belief of inner beauty. I will have to wait until the buds on the lower branches bloom to share close ups of their brilliance. Enjoy the weekend!
?
For some reason I am extremely indecisive today and have changed today's photo installment three times. I am going out for some fresh air and inspiration. Hopefully I will come back in a couple of hours with a less fuddled vision.
Enjoy the journey!!!
I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in tune once more.

Happy Belated Birthday Caleb
Caleb is the son of one of my oldest and dearest friends. We have known each other since we were about two years old. This photo was taken almost a year ago, I will have to see if Caleb's parents can send me a more recent shot. I love how the light is hitting his ear. Wouldn't you know it, the photo ties in nicely with the green theme for the week. Find new photos uploaded to our flickr account (see link on side bar). Take care!

Fun filled
Scott and I had a terrific visit with his parents. Nothing tops good company and conversation. There was a quiet evening in, with a delicious meal and much gabbing. An entertaining afternoon of tasty sandwiches and a stroll along the river, downtown Austin. Saturday was rounded off with a delectable meal at the Clay Pit and a delightful classical music performance, sponsored by the Texas Early Music Project. Sunday morning I assisted Scott with the preparations of his brilliant pasta sauce which we then allowed to simmer for most of the day. The four of us enjoyed lunch and a movie at the Alamo Draft House, where we all thoroughly enjoyed the tremendously entertaining Hot Fuzz, a must see movie!!! Dinner was superb, hats off to Scott for creating such a delicious meal. Our company boarded a plane quite early this morning and should be back in Canada this afternoon. Thanks Dave & Laurie for making Scott's birthday such a special one (celebrated a tad early), we truly appreciated your travelling down here to spend some time with us!!!!

Graffiti II
The tragedy at Virginia Tech is beyond comprehension. Our sympathies go out to all the students, families, friends, faculty and staff. Inevitably the question of why is asked and for many, the answers when they are disclosed will not make the loss any less difficult. Time, love and faith will begin the healing and if possible forgiveness, in the end.

Graffiti I
A new week and a new photo series entitled, Graffiti. We have previously shared a couple of spray painted doodles on the blog, found here and here. I suppose with any type of art work (used in the broadest sense of the term) beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The piece above was found here in Austin, near the apartment, it has a certain appeal, wouldn't you agree?I trust the week ahead holds much promise and that everyone remembers to take a bit of time to consider the impact their actions have on this gorgeous planet we call home!!!! Earth Day is this Sunday, 22 April, 2007!!!!
Enjoy the journey!!!

Four years today
To me Dad embodied integrity and perseverance. Among other things he taught me to appreciate my loved ones and to enjoy those things in life that bring you joy. He had an infectious laugh and his beautiful blues would sparkle when he smiled.
He passed away 4 years ago today and I miss him ever so much.

A silly story about ducks

I was out taking a few snapshots of the Bluebonnets last week, they are just magnificent this Spring, the rains we have had the past several weeks have ensured a terrific wildflower display this season. Attempting to take a shot from the flower's perspective. I was down on my belly, camera in hand looking for a good angle to capture the wildflower beauty, when out of the corner of my eye I notice a band of six ducks waddling their way over towards me, anticipating a snack I presume. Their quacking and murmuring was quite entertaining, but I wasn't too keen on being surrounded by ducks, especially if there happen to be a particularly bold one who might become indignant when the anticipated meal was not forthcoming. I held my ground, took a few more shots of the wildflowers and then decided since the ducks were so close I would see if I could get an interesting shot of one of them. Hence the reason for the photo included in this post.
Many thanks go out to my darling sister and her beau, they sent us a parcel full of Easter goodies recently and we just loved them!!!! Also, congratulations on the new house & happy house warming!! They moved in on Friday and are slowly but surely settling into their new digs!
Thanks again to Dave for the brilliant brisket recipe he so generously shared with us! It was a tremendous success and ever so tasty.
Enjoy the journey!
