Natural lighting effects

The beauty of light part two - Bratislava, Slovakia - January 2007

Happy Earth Day!

Be kind to this gorgeous planet each of us calls home. ReadyMade April issue is available online, an interesting magazine, full of terrific environmentally sound tips. Remember the three R's: Reduce, Reuse & then Recycle. Don't forget to bring fabric tote bags with you when you are out shopping, a wise decision for so many reasons. Be sure to visit TreeHugger a very interesting website chock full of environmentally sound initiatives, stories, ideas and products. Make small changes that work for you, every effort counts. Do find a moment to read about and listen to this bit of loveliness, a musical tribute entitled Portrait of Rachel Carson by Marian McPartland.

A favourite photograph

The beauty of light - Bratislava, Slovakia - 10 January 2007

The image above has preserved one of those gorgeous moments when you happen upon something breathtaking. I was ascending a flight of stairs while out exploring a residential area of the city and spied this glorious scene, I was transfixed. To this day it remains a particular favourite of mine. The way the light is captured holds a certain kind of magic for me. I just love how photographs have the ability to transport me back through time; where in an instant, moments and memories are brought to mind so vividly.
Our jasmine plant is in full bloom, the beautiful fragrance highlights each visit to the balcony. The wildflowers are in their glory now, some blooms are waning but there are ever so many to take their place. The spring season is at her height of perfection and we love every glorious moment.
Enjoy the journey!!!

Another sketch

Sketchbook meditation - Austin, Texas - 9 April 2008

I lose all track of time while working on these drawings, I find it so very relaxing and peaceful. Thanks so much for all the wonderful feedback about the last sketch! Wishing each of you a day full of wonder.

While reading Above All, Be Kind by Zoe Weil, I discovered the following quote by Viktor Frankl:

We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken away from a man but the one thing: the last of the human freedoms - to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.

Dusk

Taken at dusk - Salzburg, Austria - Christmas 2006

The leaves look as though they could be birds, what is it you see? This shot was taken one early evening in Salzburg near the inn we were calling home for the week. The various photographs taken during that holiday transport me back, it was such a beautiful and magical place.
Hope the weekend was most enjoyable for each of you. Thought I would leave you with a list of a few things I am enjoying at the moment:

panda love one & two

a photo entitled brave enough (for the haunted mansion)

Book By Its Cover (especially the Sketchbooks)
