The starting point

Kim's messenger bag - Austin, Texas - 25 August 2008

So this sewing spree all started with a request from Kim for a messenger style bag, similar to the one I had made as a birthday gift for Alexa (forgot to take photos), but slightly wider. She ordered the fabric from an online fabric shop (Pink Chalk Fabrics) and had it shipped to me. I actually finished it a couple of weeks ago, but having since discovered the hardware to make the strap adjustable (thanks to Kathy of Pink Chalk Studio) Kim sent it back to me and I re-worked the strap over the weekend. I am certain she will let me know what she thinks of the improvements when it arrives in the post tomorrow or Thursday.
Enjoy the journey!

Kim chose the fabrics and asked me to put this together for her as a gift for a friend. It is the second of three she requested and I finished it last week. The first can be viewed in the previous post and the third in the next. Hope they like it!

"There are few harsher indictments against architecture than the sadness we feel at the arrival of bulldozers, for our grief is in almost all cases fuelled more by a distaste for what is to be built than by any hatred of the idea of development itself. "
~Alain de Botton, The Architecture of Happiness, pg. 265.
