Back yard plantings - Georgetown, Texas - 27 July 2010

A new batch of native and adapted plants, freshly mulched, have taken up residence in our back yard. After several hours of work yesterday, we are very pleased with the new additions. Most of the plants are evergreen or semi evergreen and have blooms that will provide a nectar source to hummingbirds, butterflies and other pollinators. Hope all is well in your corner of the planet. Enjoy the journey.

New Plants

Cast Iron Plant and Turk's Cap - Georgetown, Texas - 16 July 2010

There remains some mulching to be done, but the new plants seem to be adjusting well to their new home. So far we have been able to find perennials that are either native or adapted to the area, as well as those with low water needs. Still so much to do, but we are enjoying the process. Wishing each of you an adventure filled and relaxing weekend. Enjoy the journey.

Before and after back yard - Georgetown, Texas - 21 July 2010

One of the first things we did in our back yard was strip the vines off the trees. We worked on one area beneath a trio trees around the same time and have planted and mulched the area. This week it was time to tackle another area which is pictured above, both before and after. I was so happy to finish this stage of the project (about six hours of work), I will let you know what we end up planting. Hope your day has been wonder filled. Enjoy the journey.

We have seen the little birds feeding at it, they are truly amazing creatures! How are things in your corner of the planet? I am working away in the back yard again today, hoping to finish removing some invasive weeds from around four of our trees. Stay cool and enjoy these warm (let's be honest, hot) summer days. Enjoy the journey. ox

Twenty five feet in diameter, simply amazing. For someone who loves trees as much as I do, this experience was awe inspiring. There are more images from the Seattle holiday on flickr, see link on the left. Hope all is well in your corner of the planet. Enjoy the journey. ox
