Greetings!
Words have been scant around here, so I thought it best to rectify that. Spring here in Texas feels more like summer, but what can you do, enjoy what we have, when we have it. That said, the gardens are all coming along nicely and as you probably noticed, there are plenty of blooms about to brighten our days.
The wildfire issue here in Texas is dire, but thankfully, for now, our area is not in any immediate danger. Our thanks go out to each and everyone of you who have expressed concern, it means the world to us that we are being thought of.
This morning I have been able to do a bit of weeding in the front beds, but most of my time has been spent cooking. I baked the beans I have been soaking for two days, now they are ready to be used in any number of dishes for the remainder of the week. Also prepared some farro (an heirloom wheat alternative to rice and pasta) to use in a fried rice dish for dinner tonight or tomorrow. I have a pot of chicken stock simmering that will be used to make a carrot coconut soup I read about on Kim's blog (so full of inspiration). We harvested radishes from our garden this week and have been enjoying them in salad and on their own, they are very tasty. I am slowly getting into the habit of using the fresh herbs we have growing in the back yard and boy are they full of flavour.
The following are a few things I have been meaning to share with you.
Kobie's new blog
Learning About Pie
Nudo - amazing olive oil from our adopted olive tree in Italy
Naturemill - our indoor composter
Tumbleweed - our outdoor composters
Sure Proof Blueberry Muffins - baked up a batch this week, yum!
Enjoy the journey!

I can finally share this project with everyone!!!!

Kim, being the amazing sister that she is approached Scott and I with a project idea to celebrate Marnie's 4oth birthday. Well long story short, she had loved ones send in fabric that reminded them of Marnie. Once collected, Kim sent them onto me and I put together a quilt. Scott picked out a great pattern, inspired by this quilt made by a very talented individual whose blog I frequent.
Today, being Marnie's birthday and she having opened the gift, I can now share images of it with each of you. Marnie loves the quilt! It was a challenging project, but so rewarding in the end. My thanks goes out to all those who contributed to this project. A big thank you to Kim, for giving me this opportunity to create something that will be cherished for many years to come.
Happy birthday, Marnie!!!!
