Hello there! All of the seeds planted last week have sprouted and we have tomatoes ripening on the vines. Only a few tomatoes really but they will be delicious. I trust these first days of Autumn are treating you well. Progress is being made on a couple of knitting projects, will share images soon. Enjoy the journey.

Hello!

Cat in the churchyard - Bratislava, Slovakia - January 2007
The following are a few things I have been enjoying as of late:
Rosebud slouchy version - will be the first time working with a knitting pattern involving a chart
Herriot Grace rolling pin - I would love one, everything they create is simply gorgeous
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern - great read, didn't want it to end
The Swan Thieves by Elizabeth Kostova - another great read
Professor Layton and the Unwound Future - finished recently, great puzzles!
Interwoven - a great project using yarn
The Letter Bag in waxed canvas by Moop - I would love it in brown
Forestbound - beautiful repurposed bags
Camilla Engman - an amazing artist
Happy weekend to each of you!
Enjoy the journey.

fabric stack for baby quilt gift
Fabric stack - Texas - November 2010
This fabric will become a patchwork quilt, made up of 5 x 5 inch squares. The fabrics are all so colourful and happy, I can't wait to start working on it. It is a request from my sister for a friend who is having a baby in the spring.
Here is an image of the completed quilt.
With the holidays fast approaching, will you be making any handmade goodies for gifts this year. I have a bit of knitting on the needles and will be doing a bit of cookie baking, and of course decorating the house for the holiday season. This will be our first Christmas here, it will be memorable.
Enjoy the journey.

Hand Knit
Hand knit for big brother - November 2010
Finally completed the scarf I promised my big brother and it is all packaged up, ready to be sent. It took me a while to complete this but I am hoping it will be well received. It is super soft, I used a baby llama yarn and I really like how the stitch pattern turned out and the feel of the scarf.
We should be getting things moved back in to the bedrooms and the kitchen organized some time late this week and over the weekend. A dear friend is flying in next week for a visit and we are eagerly anticipating her arrival. We should have things back into some semblance of order by the time she gets here, fingers crossed.
Enjoy the journey.

Nearly Completed Kitchen

Kitchen renovations - 13 November 2010
Most of the work on the house is nearly complete, finishing up the back splash, paint touch ups and that sort of thing are all that are needed. Then we wait for the bamboo flooring to arrive, it is expected towards the end of December. It is so nice to have a counter top and kitchen sink again. Thanks for all your thoughts and comments, we are doing well and things are slowly getting back to normal. Enjoy the journey.
P.S. Thanks for all the positive feedback about the kitchen!

Back yard trees - Georgetown, Texas - 9 November 2010
Have I mentioned how much I love the trees in the back yard?! The sound of the wind through the leaves and branches is ever so soothing. It can be a bit unnerving at times with all the acorns and branches that fall, and there are a great many of both, along with all the leaves. That said, the back yard is a peaceful place to contemplate and recharge.
Concerning house matters, the counter tops will be installed tomorrow, the carpets towards the end of the week and the shed moved Friday afternoon. It is so nice to see things moving forward with the restoration.
Wishing each of you a wonder filled week.
Enjoy the journey.

Progress is being made
We now have painted walls, baseboards and a tile floor in the guest bath. The kitchen counter top, sink, back splash and carpet will hopefully be installed next week. Restoration is moving forward, we will have to wait on the bamboo flooring until mid December, but what can you do.
Wishing each of you a wonder filled weekend.
Enjoy the journey.

A Recent Poem
Sitting in the tree loft
I notice movement from the left
Our neighbour emerges onto his deck
And shoots at the squirrel
In his yard
-MJT
P.S. It was a BB gun, thankfully. Our neighbour is a hunter and this past spring there was a problem with squirrels in their attic. I thought it odd, but what can you do.
Enjoy the journey - it never ceases to amaze.

Halloween pumpkins - 31 October 2010
It was our first Halloween in the new house and the first time since living in Texas that we had trick or treaters come to the door. We had quite a bit of fun, thoroughly enjoyed carving the pumpkins, there were some terrific costumes and we ran out of candy by 7:30pm.
November is upon us and restoration on the house is progressing slowly but surely.
Enjoy the journey.
