Our Kitty And Snowfalll
Greetings, dear ones!
Yesterday morning was spent shovelling the driveway clear of 30 - 40 cm of snow, there was so much snow! Today the temperature has dropped and the sun is shining. Grateful not to have more snow to contend with today. Tiberius makes the most of the sunshine during the winter months, he loves soaking up the rays whenever he can. Wanted to share a couple of images of our handsome kitty.
Thoughts of the coming seasons came to mind when I happened upon the following words by Sylvia Plath:
"So come, and slowly we will walk through green gardens and marvel at this strange and sweet world."
Take care and be well.
Enjoy the journey. xo

2020: Love, Hope and Joy
It has been a good start to the new year. I have been reading books more consistently, made up a tote bag for our niece who turned 13 on the 13th, knit up a toy cow as a gift for a wee mite, as well as visited with Mom and my twin sister. Over the past year I have been trying to incorporate into gifts, the embroidery samplers Scott's paternal grandmother created while she was alive. By making several throw pillows, a quilt back and this tote, then gifting them to family who have appreciated them immensely. It warms my heart being able to breathe new life into a craft that was created by a talented and well loved family member.
A daily mantra I have been repeating: I am healthy, joyful, grateful and resilient.
Be well and take care of each other.
Enjoy the journey. ox

December Has Arrived
Snow has fallen, melted and fallen again. Winter has not been officially declared yet but it feels like winter is upon us. Tiberius makes the most of the sunshine when it makes an appearance these days. That kitty of ours brings us so much joy. The full moon last night was the last of 2019, as well as being the last of the decade. It was another beauty, of course. I didn't make the time last night to pull out the tripod to take a properly exposed low light image of the moon. The image above is quite moody and turned out okay, regardless. May this holiday season be full of wonder and magic. Take care of each other and enjoy the journey. xo

Autumn Colour
It has been a beautiful Autumn, the leaf colour has lasted for quite some time. Only in the past couple of days, with all the rain and wind, have the majority of the leaves fallen from their branches.
Be well and enjoy the journey. ox

A Quilt, A Tote, Trillium Blooms And Decay In The Woods
Gradation gifts, Trillium blooms and decay found during a walk in the woods.
The embroidery tulip sample on the quilt back was crafted by my husband's paternal grandmother, so wonderful to include and honour her work.
Enjoy the journey. ox

A Morning Hike
Happy Spring!
Went for a morning hike today.
Finally checked out a different trail nearby.
Beautiful view from a lookout about a 1.5 km (25 minute) hike in from the road.
Find more images here.
Hope all is well in your corner of the planet.
Take care and enjoy the journey.

So Much Snow!
Happy 2019! What a Winter we are experiencing. This week saw a huge storm move across the province, dumping a considerable amount of snow in most areas. Thankful for the ability to clear snow, a home, the support of loved ones, our kitty and my darling. Find more photos at my Flickr account, link on the left side of the screen.

A Turtle And So Many Blooms!
Such a beautiful time of year.
Amazing colours, fragrances, sights and sounds.
The gardens and wooded areas are full of wonder.
A turtle has laid her eggs in the backyard.
The Lightning Bugs have been on display in the evenings in the backyard woods, so spectacular.
The dragonflies have arrived, thankfully, since the mosquitoes are fierce again this year.
Wishing each of you curiosity, wonder and time to enjoy this journey. ox

The following is a beautiful poem by Rainer Maria Rilke, a dear friend shared with me recently, thought you might enjoy it as well.
Why, if it’s possible
to spend our little
span of existence
as laurel
slightly darker
than all the other greens
with tiny waves
on each leaf’s rim
(like a wind’s smile)
-why then
still insist
on being human
and shrinking from fate
long for it too?...
Oh not because happiness
- that part of approaching ruin
that rushes ahead of it –
isn't real.
Not out of curiosity
not to exercise the heart
that would have been fine
in the laurel…
But just because to be here
means so much
and because
everything here
all this that’s disappearing
seems to need us
to concern us
in some strange way
we, who disappear
even faster!
It’s one time
for each thing
and only once
Once and no more.
And the same for us:
once.
Then never again.
But this once having been
even though only once
having been on earth
seems as though
it can’t be undone
And so we push ourselves
wanting to master it
wanting to hold it all
in our own two hands
in the overloaded gaze
and the dumbstruck heart.
to spend our little
span of existence
as laurel
slightly darker
than all the other greens
with tiny waves
on each leaf’s rim
(like a wind’s smile)
-why then
still insist
on being human
and shrinking from fate
long for it too?...
Oh not because happiness
- that part of approaching ruin
that rushes ahead of it –
isn't real.
Not out of curiosity
not to exercise the heart
that would have been fine
in the laurel…
But just because to be here

and because

all this that’s disappearing
