Well Into Spring!

So things are a little different everywhere these days and certainly have been for weeks now. I trust this finds each of you healthy and sane. I have been able to finish several crafting projects and have read a few books, which is always gratifying. My days begin with a walk around our neighbourhood, which is a habit that had ebbed a bit this Winter. I have rediscovered how truly wonderfully invigorating and mind clearing it is, a great way to begin any day. Take care of yourself and loved ones, remember the importance of being kind and generous. Be well and enjoy this continually changing journey we are all on. ox

Late Summer

My dear sister and her sweetie came to visit earlier this month. We had such a wonderful time catching up. She and I went out early Sunday morning for a hike and the top image was taken from the lookout. We have been very fortunate that the kale, swiss chard and herbs have grown quite well this season and provided us with a bounty of greens. The plants have thrived under Scott's attention this summer. An ongoing knitting project I set myself this year was to use up leftover yarn from previous sock projects. The result has been a growing collection of mismatched socks, so very satisfying. I am certain everyone has a favourite pair of jeans they would wear until absolutely threadbare and full of holes. Inspired by the visible mending movement I finally repaired a hole in the knee and reinforced the surrounding area of a well loved and worn pair of jeans. Take care of each other and enjoy the beauty and wonder that surrounds us. ox

Hello, Spring!

Happy Spring! There has been snow, lots of rain, bulbs and trees are beginning to grow, and there are so many birds. There is a chance of more snow, but it will melt. The hand knit vest was a gift for a wee baby boy. Tiberius is super excited about all the birds that keep him busy rushing from window to window. Hope all is well in your corners of the planet. Take care of each other and enjoy the journey. ox

Inversion Cardigan - Complete

The Inversion Cardigan can be worn two different ways. I have tried to demonstrate that in the images above. Please find more information and images here.  There are three pieces to knit and then some sewing together of said pieces to finish this cardigan. If finishing work is not something you enjoy, I would avoid this pattern. That said, I found it an interesting knit, a bit like a puzzle putting it together in the end. The yarn colour is called Soot, charcoal with flecks of grey and white. Now onto knitting a vest in a wonderfully soft alpaca wool blend yarn, as well as beginning a new quilt project (will share more soon).  Just planted the last round of radish seeds for the season and the seedlings have already emerged.  Hope all is well in your corner of the planet.  Enjoy the journey.

December Days

Hello to each of you! We have an Amaryllis planted at our home, hoping it will bloom for Christmas. Sent off a commissioned baby quilt last week and we heard word that the recipient, a healthy wee boy, arrived yesterday. Found the Jolly Wee Elf pattern on the website of a favourite shop on the West Coast. The elf is a pretty easy project and terribly cute and festive.  What have you been up to? Enjoy the journey.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Birthday gift for Mom - October 2012

A birthday gift for my dear Mom has been sent off in the post this week. A tad early, it is a Halloween birthday, but wanted to be sure it arrived in plenty of time. It was made using two different yarns and the pattern, Fjord by Jenny Gordy found in Brooklyn Tweed's Wool People Volume 3. It was fun to knit and is the third one I have completed over the past couple of months.

Wishing each of you a fantastic Thanksgiving weekend (Canadian holiday)!!! There will be pumpkin pie enjoyed at our house. Enjoy the journey.
