December Has Arrived
Snow has fallen, melted and fallen again. Winter has not been officially declared yet but it feels like winter is upon us. Tiberius makes the most of the sunshine when it makes an appearance these days. That kitty of ours brings us so much joy. The full moon last night was the last of 2019, as well as being the last of the decade. It was another beauty, of course. I didn't make the time last night to pull out the tripod to take a properly exposed low light image of the moon. The image above is quite moody and turned out okay, regardless. May this holiday season be full of wonder and magic. Take care of each other and enjoy the journey. xo

Snow
Although it was a very warm December, we now have snow and it will be well below freezing tonight and tomorrow. Snow has a way of making everything look so pretty and the way it muffles sound is beautiful.
The following are worth reading:

Enjoy the journey.

An Image And A Poem
Through the window
we could see
how far away it was to the gates of April.
Let the fire now
put on its red hat
and sing to us.

Spring is near

Locally grown flowers, Ranunculus bouquet - Austin, Texas - 16 March 2008
So glad you liked the sketches, your kind words mean the world to me! I worry sometimes about the response I will get when I unveil things that are dear to me. I have learned, ever so slowly, that it isn't so much the reception, but the simple act of creating, it brings such joy. This sentiment isn't new, but so very apt. The photo above was taken during an afternoon of overcast skies. I have had to process it quite extensively, something I try not to do too much of with any photos I take. The weather forecast calls for plenty of sunshine today, so I am hoping to have a few naturally lit shots later today. I will share them with you tomorrow!
Happy journeys today!

Reminiscence IV

Twins sisters dressed up for Halloween - Mid to late 70's - Taken by Mom
The photograph above of my sister and I just makes me grin. I love how Karen's ears are flopped back and mine are forwards, and that you can see the flame of the candle inside the jack-o-lantern. We both look so happy. Mom made the rabbit hats to go along with our pyjamas, they must have been such cozy costumes. If you get a chance, be sure to check out this series of paintings, I just love them. Wishing each of you the joy of finding magic in the seemingly mundane.

Thoughts
Hints of Spring III - Austin, Texas - 3 March 2008 The month of March heralds Dad's birthday, as well as Mom & Dad's wedding anniversary. This time of year tends to bring to mind thoughts and memories of Dad more readily, more so this year, with April 12th being five years since Dad's death. Some days it seems as though it were only yesterday, while others, it is as though time has lost all meaning. Funny how our minds can seemingly play tricks on us. At times memories appear to be stored away at random, since there are moments when something out of the blue can bring about an entire cascade of stored thoughts and images from the past. I suppose if I were to consider it more closely, there must be a connection between the trigger and the memory, but it really shouldn't matter where, or why or how. I am simply grateful that I have the capacity to retain so many cherished memories. They are a true gift. Here is to remembering...
