Well Into Spring!

So things are a little different everywhere these days and certainly have been for weeks now. I trust this finds each of you healthy and sane. I have been able to finish several crafting projects and have read a few books, which is always gratifying. My days begin with a walk around our neighbourhood, which is a habit that had ebbed a bit this Winter. I have rediscovered how truly wonderfully invigorating and mind clearing it is, a great way to begin any day. Take care of yourself and loved ones, remember the importance of being kind and generous. Be well and enjoy this continually changing journey we are all on. ox

Two Commissioned Quilts Completed

Image one:  quilt front
Image two:  quilt back
Image three:  quilt front and Tiberius

The first quilt was a melmade original, my sweetie sketched a design of a tree at sunset, and earth tones were requested for a colour scheme. The front is my abstract take of that design and the back is just a fun combination of solid colours I thought worked well together. One individual thought the quilt back reminded him of flags in an ocean of water, I like that description, thanks Odin.
The third image is the second quilt I finished up yesterday. Tiberius lays claim to all creations, by the way. It is the Point Me quilt pattern by Denyse Schmidt and I have used this pattern before. This time the fabrics for the triangles are different shades of blue and it is a queen sized quilt. I was able to do some long arm quilting on both quilts, after renting time on a machine from a nearby sewing store.
Both quilts turned out quite well. It feels great having completed these projects and I hope both quilts are enjoyed in their new homes.
Enjoy the journey.

Hello!

It would seem that an entire week has slipped by without me posting here on the blog. Being a bit under the weather, getting wrapped up in a book or two, another morning spent at the long arm quilting studio and an afternoon of sewing at home will do that.  We have a special someone coming to visit next week for a few days, can't wait to spend some time with her! Finished quilting the latest project I have been working on, just have to finish making and attaching the binding, then it will be shipped off to Scotland for a wee mite due this fall.
I have been meaning to share a couple of links with you:

A simple whole cloth quilt, two different fabrics for the front and the back, sewn together lengthwise. It was quilted using Glenna's long arm quilting machine. This quilt is staying with us and should be great for snuggling under. Hope the weekend was grand. Enjoy the journey.

Something For Me

Echino whole cloth quilt - melmade - spring 2012

Another session on the long arm quilting machine this week. This time around it was quilted in meandering loops, in a lime green thread and the quilt dimensions are 57 inches by 104 inches. The quilt front is one whole piece of fabric and the back is made up of the green and tan fabrics.  I am looking forward to snuggling under this one. *The binding is now attached and here is another view.
Hope all is well in your corner of the planet.  Enjoy the journey.

Quilting Results

A long arm quilting session was completed yesterday in just under three hours. I used orange thread and a meandering pattern. I really enjoyed the process and with practice will be able to tackle more complicated patterns. Now to attach the binding. Enjoy the journey.
