Journey At Pechanga - Temecula, California

Journey Golf Course - Temecula, California - 27 August 2011

What a beautiful part of the country and this is where I played my first round of golf.  I have so much to learn and many years of practice ahead of me, it was terrific learning experience. Scott is such a great teacher and so patient, offering encouragement and limited advise when needed.  I took a few lessons last month before we left on holiday and am hoping to continue learning and improving over the years to come.  I now have a greater respect and appreciation for this complex, infuriating, and amazing game.  The golf course was picturesque, the vistas on some of the holes were gorgeous. It is an experience I will treasure.  Enjoy the journey.

Twenty Years Ago

Mark, Me and Jason - Bark Lake, Ontario, Canada - August 1991

Twenty years ago this month, I attended Bark Lake Outdoor Leadership Camp. I had a great time, I learned so much about myself, others and life in general. The above image is of myself with two of my camp mates, Mark on the left and Jason on the right. Jason was and is an incredible individual, he and I met and became friends at camp and have never seen each other face to face since. The great thing is, he and I have kept in touch over the years through letter writing and it is something that continues to amaze me and I look at as a true gift. These past few months we have corresponded a bit more than usual because of this milestone. It is always such a treat to find a letter in the mailbox from Jason, the familiarity of his handwriting on the envelope and then the words written or typed on the pages, they continue our ongoing conversation. Letter writing is rare these days and I myself don't write as often as I would like, letters are a captured instance in one's life. I was reminded of this when Jason sent a card last month wishing Scott and I a happy anniversary, along with a copy of a letter I had written eight years ago to tell Jason about the wedding. It was as though I was transported back in time, what a treasure, like a snapshot in words of my life at that particular moment in time.
Thanks for stopping by.
Enjoy the journey.
